Dear Nirmal.
First let me thank you for the excellent arrangements you made for me in Kerala. I appreciated your constant communication to make sure that all was well, the lunch in Cochin, the bottle of wine on the houseboat and the model of the houseboat that you gave me.
As requested, I will comment about the tour.
1. Guided tour of Fort Kochi – the guide was knowledgeable, his English was good and easily understood and he was friendly. On the negative side, he seemed too intent on guiding me into certain shops in the Jewish district, even though I told him that I was not interested in looking into any more shops. I did not like that.
2. Lake Song Hotel – beautiful, good for relaxation – pool very small and would be an issue if there were more guests. Room was reasonable size – shower – no bath – still OK – amenties in room not as much as I would have anticipated – no hair dryer etc. Breakfast very good. Dinner – not as good food as I had during rest of trip, but acceptable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, comfortable and adequate. I do not know what it cost and how it compares with other hotels in the area so I cannot comment about relative value.
3. Houseboat – clean, beautiful boat – very comfortable. Crew very accommodating and friendly. Meal – very good food. Scenery and bird life outstanding. Would strongly recommend.
4. Driver – Stanley – punctual, friendly, accommodating, helpful and anticipated my needs well. Drove well – not dangerously, and I felt comfortable wit him driving. Overall – excellent – would use him again.
